THE Story So Far……
Sea of Flowers is Cromer’s long-standing florist, based on Mount Street for over 10 years. Previously known as The Rose Garden, I was given the opportunity in 2020 to take over and continue this much-loved business. Wanting to embrace our beautiful surroundings and being only one minute from the beach Sea of Flowers was born.
My name is Jessica, and you can’t get much more local than me! I’ve grown up here, worked here, raised my children here, and still live in sunny Cromer. It’s a privilege to serve my local community alongside my small team of fellow flower lovers.
My floristry journey began at 15 years old when I chose to do my school work experience with a florist. I went on to study A Levels, followed by a degree in Photography at Norwich University of the Arts. It wasn’t until after having my second child, Ivy, that I realised I wanted to return to my roots. I enrolled in floristry training at Easton College and worked at what was then The Rose Garden, until I was approached with the amazing opportunity to take over the business.
I have a very small experienced team here at Sea of Flowers, and you’ll find us all doing a bit of everything. You’ll quite often even spot my mum, Sue, out on deliveries. I’ve chosen to keep things small so we can offer every customer a truly personal, individual service.
What do we believe in at Sea of Flowers? We love using flowers you’re unlikely to find in supermarkets or even in some other florists. We work seasonally wherever possible and, during the British growing season, we aim to include blooms from local growers alongside flowers from Holland. Our style is artful, natural, and slightly bohemian, with a sense of softness and beauty at the heart of every arrangement.
I am conscious of the impact our industry has on the environment and aim to use recyclable, compostable, and reusable materials wherever possible. As the industry evolves, we continue to look for more sustainable alternatives. You won’t find excessive cellophane, plastics, or unnecessary decorations here we believe our flowers speak for themselves.
My passion for eco living led me to create The Refill Room, where you can bring your own bottle or purchase one in store to refill with a range of household and personal care products from brands such as Faith in Nature, FILL, and Miniml. We also stock a wide selection of eco-friendly essentials, from deodorant to toilet roll.
I felt Cromer was missing something like this, and having struggled with eczema myself, I became increasingly aware of how much unnecessary plastic we throw away. Creating a more sustainable, low-waste alternative felt really important to me.
My team and I aim to be more than just a florist we want to create a small hub of creativity and sustainable products by showcasing the work of other creatives and women in business, from clothing and accessories to handmade candles, homeware, and many other local products.
I hope we’ll see you soon with beautiful flowers in our hands, just for you.
Lots of Love Jessica x
